Social Studies in PLHKS is a school-based subject designed for junior high students. It is mainly composed of world history and geography, with an aim to broaden students' horizons through different content. There are a wealth of learning activities in the curriculum, allowing students to participate in the classroom and apply knowledge to daily life.

Chinese History
本校開設中國歷史科，帶領同學認識中國重要的歷史事件、文化面貌，著重培養同學研習歷史、分析史事的能力。同時，亦希望培養同學對民族的認同感、歸屬感及責任感，從而培養他們學習中國歷史的興趣，懂得自主學習。
普通話
Putonghua
本校的普通話科是校本課程教學，課堂學習生動，循序漸進地在各級課文中安排說話、敘事、演講等各種形式的實際運用。普通話科善用各種教學資料和練習，同時為學生安排有趣的活動和校內外比賽，提升學生的表達能力和自信。
生活與社會
Life & Society
生活與社會科是初中其中一個術科，課程涉獵通識科六大單元課題，同時亦配合大勢所趨，推行電子學習，期望同學在不同渠道都能自主學習。高中通識教育科是四大核心科目之一，涵蓋六個單元。 除了日常課堂， 本校亦配合多元化教學策略，包括戶外體驗式學習、社區服務、電子學習。

本校把ART加入STEM教育，成為STEAM教育。我校從正規課程、跨科學習及延伸學習活動等多方面推動STEAM 教育。無論在科學、數學、設計與科技、資訊及通訊科技、藝術教育等科目都加入了STEAM 教育的元素。

The study of Physics provides a platform for developing scientific literacy, building up essential scientific knowledge and skills for life-long learning in science and technology. Our school provides students with opportunities to design and conduct investigations with a view to solving authentic problems. Students are expected to make use of their knowledge, together with the generic skills, to work on group-based investigative studies.

Chemistry
Chemistry is a natural science. We hope students can learn the principles of chemistry and apply what they have learned. Therefore, the Chemistry Panel pays equal attention to the theory and experimentation. In addition to establishing a broad and solid foundation of chemistry knowledge for students, it also guides students to discover the fun of chemistry in their daily lives.

The Biology Panel of our school leads students to explore the microscopic world through microscopes, inspiring students' curiosity for science. Scientific theories are linked to daily life. Students can perceive the world through the subject and think about the connection between humans and the world. Professional knowledge is taught in Biology. Students not only enjoy interesting classrooms and establish a solid scientific theoretical foundation, but also find their ideal career development direction.

Chinese Literature
本校開設中國文學科讓中四至中六同學修讀，課程藉著先秦至現代不同的文學作品，培養同學對文學作品的感悟，提升同學的鑒賞能力，並藉著不同的活動，提升同學對中國文學的認識及興趣，帶領同學體會中國文化之美。
音樂
Music
Our Music curriculum consists of two parts, music and choir training. On one hand, musical theory taught in class can be practised through an interactive e-learning platform. On the other hand, PLHKS organizes a class-based choir competition every year to allow students to show their musical talents. We hope students can learn to appreciate the art of music, and to enjoy it.

Visual Arts
Visual Art emphasizes visual, aesthetic and arts experience. It not only enables students to express personal feelings and thoughts through artistic presentations, but also develops students’ visual cognition, generic skills and metacognition through art making, appreciation and criticism.
We aim to broaden students’ perspectives through exploration of the arts of diverse cultures, as well as cultivate students’ morals and sense of commitment towards our society and the world.
戲劇教育
Drama Education
PLHKS is the first aided secondary school in Hong Kong to introduce Drama Education. In the school-based curriculum of S.1, we aim to enhance students’ appreciation of drama art through the curriculum and learn to respect different opinions and creations. Drama is a compulsory course for S1 students and is conducted in English. The course is divided into two parts: script creating and acting skills. In our school, “Drama in Education” is also used in the teaching of different subjects, enhancing the learning effectiveness of students.
舞蹈教育
Dance Education
The Dance Education in PLHKS integrates skills, theory and creativity. In our school, dance is regarded as a performing art. The course emphasizes the whole process of the art of dance, which includes the learning of skills, choreography and performing. Dance courses, taught by professional dance teachers, are offered as part of the formal art education for S2-6 students

Our Physical Education programme is committed to formulating a positive and healthy school-based curriculum on the school campus. We focus on helping students establish a regular and healthy lifestyle through sports, cultivating positive values and attitudes, and promoting all-round learning. In addition to physical education, our school also provides students with various opportunities for physical development.

本校課外活動組的工作目標是讓同學透過參與各種課外活動，提升個人素質，擴闊視野，學習關愛社群，發揮潛能，並建立正確的價值觀。同時藉著舉辦多元化的課外活動，為同學提供愉快的校園生活，從而培養他們對學校的歸屬感。本校共有接近四十個學會，分為四大類，分別是科本類、興趣類、運動類及服務類。
宗教信仰

本校重視學生在靈、德、智、體、群、美六育的培養。宗教處在學生的靈性教育上扮演重要角色，為栽培學生成長，我們安排中一福音營、栽培訓練、學生團契、福音周、夏令營、宗教周會、宗教信息早會、團契職員訓練、聖誕節及復活節崇拜等工作。

Students Union
學生會會長及四社社長是由每一位林漢光中學的學生投票選出來的，負責舉辦學生活動，統籌學生會的服務，包括文具大平賣、蒸飯服務、各種物品借用服務，例如小息時可以借籃球、羽毛球或棋類遊戲等。在九月份舉行的中一迎新日，中一學生可以了解更多關於學生會與四社的資訊，並認識其他社員。
戲劇活動
Drama Activities
本校戲劇教育除了課堂學習、亦籌備不少校內校外的演出，讓學生參與舞台製作。戲劇籌備演出的過程很費功夫，學生由創作劇本，到揀選角色，到開始綵排，又要考慮前台演出和後台製作 ,從中提升學生表達能力、團隊合作、建立自信、堅持信念，達至全人發展。

This subject helps students understand the world in which they live through mastery of economic knowledge. It also enhances their intellectual capacity for life-long learning by developing their capacity for economic analysis, to ensure they possess the skills necessary for reasoning about issues and making rational choices, and to guarantee they are well-equipped for the changing economic world.
企業、會計與財務概論
BAFS
The overall aim of the Business, Accounting and Financial Studies (BAFS) curriculum is to provide students at the senior secondary level with fundamental business knowledge and skills, and to help them develop positive values and a good attitude, so that they can fulfill their roles as consumers, investors, employees and/or entrepreneurs competently and confidently.
Different activities are organised to develop students’ generic skills in research, analysis, leadership, team building, communication, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. Students are encouraged to explore different aspects of business to prepare them for life, learning and employment.
